About this journey

Morning in a family silver workshop in Celuk, afternoon among the wood and mask carvers of Mas.

In Celuk we sit in a small workshop where jewellery is still made by hand: melting, drawing wire and fusing tiny silver beads in granulation work. You will make a simple silver ring with an artisan's guidance. After lunch we move on to Mas. Here you see how a block of wood becomes a statue or mask through dozens of chisels, then visit the Setia Darma House of Masks and Puppets to see masks and puppets from across Indonesia.

  1. Day 1

    Celuk and Mas

    09:00 silver class in Celuk until 12:00, lunch, 13:30 carving workshops in Mas and the museum. Finishing around 16:30.
