About Kampung Naga

Kampung Naga lies in Neglasari village, Salawu district, Tasikmalaya, in a fertile valley bounded by the Ciwulan river and a sacred forest. Visitors reach it by walking down a stone stairway (sengked) from the Garut–Tasikmalaya road. Its residents keep Sundanese ancestral custom firmly. Houses must be on stilts, built of bamboo and wood with palm-fibre or thatch roofs, face north or south, and remain unpainted. The sacred forest and revered buildings such as the Bumi Ageung are respected by residents and not entered on our tours, and village guides will tell you where photography is allowed.

Getting there

Kampung Naga lies on the Garut–Tasikmalaya highway, about an hour from either Tasikmalaya or Garut. From Bandung it is roughly 3–4 hours by road. From the car park, the village is reached down several hundred stone steps.
