Tabanan stretches from the cool Bedugul highlands to the surf-washed southern coast. Upstream, Ulun Danu Beratan temple honours Dewi Danu, goddess of the lake that waters the fields below. Downstream, Tanah Lot rises from a rock that the tide turns into an island. The regency is also home to the Jatiluwih subak landscape, one of Bali's widest sweeps of terraced rice, farmed to the same planting rhythm for centuries.
