About this journey

Join a purification rite with the village priest, then follow the subak channels to a rice-field shrine.

The morning begins at a sacred spring on the edge of Ubud. The village priest explains the meaning of melukat, prepares canang offerings with you, and guides the purification under the spring. After changing, we walk the dykes and water channels with a pekaseh, the head of the subak. You will see how water is shared fairly among farmers, stop at a bedugul shrine in the middle of the fields, and end with lunch at a farming family's home.
