About this journey

Stay in Kemiren to discover Osing houses, language and kitchens, and the village barong.

Kemiren in Glagah district is a cultural tourism village where the Osing, descendants of the Blambangan kingdom, keep their customs and language. You stay in a village home, learn greetings in Osing and help prepare dishes such as pecel pithik in a traditional kitchen. In the evening villagers introduce the Osing barong, which is still considered sacred. If your visit falls on Ider Bumi, Tumpeng Sewu or the Ngopi Sepuluh Ewu coffee festival in October, you will join the villagers to watch.
