About this journey
Walk between terraced rice fields and streams, with Mount Agung on the horizon.
The route follows rice-field dykes and village lanes through the Sidemen valley, past the channels that water the fields and gardens around them. A local guide explains the planting and harvest seasons and village life below Mount Agung.
The route and its length are adjusted to the season and trail conditions, at an easy to moderate level. We end the day with a simple lunch in the village.

Itinerary
Day 1
Dykes and valley
08:00 meet in Sidemen, walk for about three hours through fields and villages, 12:00 lunch, ending around 13:30.

Local etiquette
- Walk only on the dykes you are shown and keep off the rice plants and water channels.
- Do not step over or on canang offerings on paths and in front of homes.
- Ask before photographing people, homes or ceremonies.
Getting there
About 1.5–2 hours by road from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport via Klungkung.
