About this journey

Four days from Mola on Wangi-Wangi to Sampela on Kaledupa: boats, sea and the stilt villages of the Bajo.

The Bajo are known as expert sailors and free divers whose lives have depended on the sea for centuries. In Mola, a Bajo village on Wangi-Wangi Island, stilt houses are linked by wooden walkways and canoes are everyday transport. You learn how residents catch and prepare fish, taste fresh seafood, and hear how life on boats turned into villages over the water. On day three we cross to Kaledupa to visit Sampela and Mantigola, then snorkel the reefs of Wakatobi National Park with a local guide.

Hosted by the local community in Wakatobi
