About this journey

Five days in a village homestay: weave pandan, learn about sasi and snorkel reefs protected by custom.

Arborek is a small village in the Dampier Strait, in the heart of Raja Ampat, known for its residents' commitment to protecting the sea. You stay in a community-run homestay, weave hats and noken bags from pandan with the village women, and learn how sasi protects reefs and fish. Each day includes time to snorkel the house reef, boat to the Pianemo lagoon, and hear the origin story of the four kings from a village elder.
